Description: This painting is linked to the Rosary; the Rosary was the newest and most recognizable devotion at the time. The angels sitting around Mary and Jesus are next to, and even holding fruit. If you look closely, you will see Jesus is as well. This is supposed to be an allusion to the Tree of Knowledge. The painting is supposed to make one think they can smell the roses, invoke your sense of smell. By Stefan Lochner (German).
